This crash is from the mid-2000s, a sweet spot in Istanbul Agop’s history right after their split from Mehmet when it was still operating as a smaller, highly artisan-focused workshop with the cymbals featuring more individualised hand-hammering. It has had nearly 20 years to naturally age, settle, and mellow and delivers a mature, smokey warmth. It is slightly thinner and more responsive than many mass-produced Medium 18s and has the immediate, dark, buttery opening response of a jazz crash. It has been played, obvs, but is structurally intact. Lovely stuff. Please see my other listings for all sorts of interesting cymbals.
