The shells are 4 ply, 6mm old-growth Japanese birch in the Camco style and profile; this old-growth birch has been long deforested and is unable to recreate. This seems entirely made possible because the re-rings are ply and not solid, and thus not as chunky as Rogers, Ludwig, Slingerland or even Tama Imperialstar.
